Building Clientele as a New Doula
It can be a little scary to even call yourself a doula when you are new to birth working. But, Sis, you've got this. If God has called you to become a birth worker - your voice, your care and your practice is needed. No matter what you may think about the birth working market being saturated, you bring a unique advantage to this space.
You've taken the first step to becoming a doula by simply calling yourself one! Here are some ways that you can grow your clientele and find mamas that need your help!
- Leverage your network
- Join online doula support spaces (like Facebook groups)
- Follow pregnant mamas near you
- Make a Facebook page for your practice
- Find a mentor
- Connect with local medical organizations and hospitals
- Reach out to local women's groups
- Get certified or take courses
- Begin taking on clients for free (you don't have to offer full-spectrum services. You can start small by offering PDFs or eBooks to expecting mamas!)
- Start a blog (like this one!)
