What's in My Doula Bag?
![]() |
Birth workers are infamous for their handy-dandy-bag-of-tricks known more commonly as the 'Doula Bag.'
This bag of essentials is what a doula takes with her/him to visits with mama and baby.
My doula bag is still growing, but for the mamas that book my services, here's a little bit of what I bring when I come to visit with you!
What's in my doula bag:
- A change of clothes
- The Bible (when in doubt, we're going to pray!)
- Measuring tape
- A rice sock
- Hydration packets
- Hydration drinks
- Massage oil
- Essential oils
- Scarves, belly binders, rebozo wraps
- Tea lights for mood setting
- Small dry erase boards and dry erase markers (I'm big on writing things down. As your mood changes, we can quickly jot down affirmations to keep us going like "My body is built to birth, I'm confident that my baby is surrounded by love and support," etc.)
- A journal (we can document feedings, poops, times that you've taken medication, etc.)
- A few tea bags
- Snacks
- Birth ball (well, technically, it's not in my bag - but it's coming with me!)
I'm also in the process of purchasing a fetal doppler.
Here is an Instagram reel of the beginnings of my doula bag!
